Nicole Terez & Adrian Alleyne March 4
Another incredible night at the Lizard Lounge!! A double feature that was well worth the money, time and sweat it took to produce! We had 2 extraordinary poets on the mic last Sunday. Nicole and Adrian were remarkable. If you missed it, shame on you!! Adrian had not had a feature anywhere in quite sometime. Nicole wanted to have this double feature with Adrian in particular. How could he say no and you know I was down!
They had a nice flow with their presentation. Duets and solo work had a good rhythm and it was easy for the band to catch on to them pretty quick. Outstanding poetry that left the room speechless at times. Simply a GREAT FEATURE!!
Christopher Johnson won the slam this week. Joey came in second again. Christopher won despite going over time during each round! Signs of a good poet! I hosted the slam and it was fun. We had a few first time judges who loved the slam and promised to come back. Patricia Smith and special guest Sparhla Swa next week!! Be there are you’ll have to hear through the grape vine!
Every Sunday with a Poetry Slam starting at 7:30pm and a Featured Poet and Open Mic accompanied by the Jeff Robinson Trio starting at 9:00pm - there’s a $5 cover and you must be 21 to enter the venue - Sultry red lights, intimate tables, and wooden church pews give this small room one of the best ambiances in town.

When people watched Nicole and Adrian you would have thought they were rehearsing the last month it shows the talent of the poets onstage when they can just mash together words and music so effortlessly and keep a beet, rhythm and cadence that left you in awe. A true pleasure to see such great writers and performers, they played with the jazz as opposed to against it, they listened and talked to the jazz like a conversation. Nicole commented on how the trio can make anyone sound good that was her humility and humble nature one of the many reasons she’s loved, it’s true the trio can make most poets sound great but the dynamic duo made it look effortlessly thank you for coming down and sharing guys. Hope to see you again…SOON
