Regie Gibson has entered the building!! Regie is the James Brown of Poetry!! The hardest working man in the business of show. A spectacular performance from one of the best in the bizz! He did some old and some new poems and all of them were incredible!! Remarkable!! I don’t have the words to describe his but we were all moved by his performance!!

It was our first semi-final for our slam team and was a great night! You can get more info by clicking the “slam” link.

Adam was back in the house yesterday in a big way! This was his first feature in about 3 years!! It was great to have him back. His poetry is very strong and fun. He has a new book of poetry out. It’s poems about his childhood. Great stuff and the crowd ate it up. Adam was a regular at the Lizard when he lived in Boston. He now lives in New Mexico so having him here was truly a treat!

The slam was fun too. I hosted the slam and Christopher Johnson won. Our first semi-final is next week and Regie Gibson is the featured poet! Don’t miss it!!

What a night what a night! The rain seemed to add a air of magic last night because the room was full of witches and warlocks last night! Surreal! Christopher did a marvelous job as the featured poet. He was on from the start! Bobbing and weaving like Muhammad Ali! Rumble young man RUMBLE!! AHHHH!!! Christopher has contagious spirit and it was a lot of fun. The crowd loved him.

The slam was incredible. I’ve never seen a slam like this one. Joyce hosted so maybe she will blog in later and give you her take on it. I had to leave during some of the slam so I didn’t see all of it. I did see the last round and Marlon Carey won the slam over Adam Stone by one tenth of a point. Get this though. Adam had 29.9 and Marlon came back and won it with a 30!! WOW!! Let’s wait for Joyce’s take on the whole thing.

Oz hosted the open mic and he was cool and collected. A few new poets on the open mic last night. Next week is Adam Rubinstein!

Doc Brown’s Poetry Troupe – April 8th

Fun show with Doc Brown’s Traveling Poetry Troupe yesterday! I thoroughly enjoyed the poetry and precision of their work. Top class poets and a top class performance for all on hand to see. This is a different group than what I had seen some years back and ther quality and experience showed in their work. I look forward in working with them again. Doc is moving to Maine soon and I think the poetry troupe will continue the work. I believe they have a show at Jimmy Tingle Off Broadway in Davis Square later this month.

I hosted the slam again and Oz won it! The Great & Powerful Oz was on last night with beautiful poetry and a cool collected performance. Tai came in second in what was a highly contested slam. The open mic was small but we somehow got an hour out of about 5 poets. Iyeoka came in in the last few minutes and did a “mini feature” before a small but very attentive crowd! Another wonderful night at the Lizard. Next week is Christopher Johnson!
