Afro-DZ-Ak - October 7th

October 9th, 2007 by Jeff

Afro-DZ-Ak was great last Sunday!  A wonderful multi-talented artist who dazzled us with his poetry and trumpet!  It is always a pleasure to perform with this young man who had a t-shirt for every poem/song he played.  It was fun, entertaining and enlightening all at the same time!

Joyce hosted the slam and it was good to have her back in the room.  She’s been quite busy lately so it was nice to have her around.

Cole hosted the open mic and she was fun.  Another great night at the Lizard!

Sizzlin’ Semi-Finals & Regie

May 5th, 2007 by SlamMama

We had an incredible night at the Lizard Lounge last Sunday. Our first semi-final was very exciting and highly competitive. The poets were outstanding. Our judges did a great job. Jeff and I had a fun time co-hosting. Our winners going on to finals night are: Iyeoka, Marlon, Adam, and 125. As usual, our featured poet Regie Gibson captivated, inspired, and uplifted with his poetic and performance prowess!

This Sunday’s semi-final promises to be even more competitive than last Sunday’s. Contestants are: Oz, Christopher Johnson, Eric Darby, Tai, J*me, Cole, Douglas Bishop, and Joshua. Our feature is the very sexy, talented, and lovable Carlos Gomez - if you have never seen him perform, do not miss this! (Those who’ve seen him, know not to miss him!) With this line-up for semi-finals and Carlos as the feature, I guarantee you lots of fun and inspiration!

See you Sunday. (Hope you’re working on my birthday present - passionate love poems are my favorite!)

Lets make magic together

So I missed a nail bitter last sunday?! It sounds like we once again have the makings of some amazing poetry in the weeks to come. I cant wait and expect everyone to bring all the fire and passion poetically possible to the great lizard stage. Try something new, dare to step outside the mold you’ve so comfortably cast yourself in. This is a season of growth. This is an opportunity to compete with ourselves. No score shall limit you, no gender, no sexual orientation, nor color, nor attire. I challenge you all to stop spitting for the crowd, stop pimping the news, the war, and Katrina, and freely leave yourself on that stage, naked and exposed and allow us all to touch

Its Good to be Back!
