Jeff Robinson – Saxophones
St. Louis Missouri native, composer, radio disc jockey, actor, director, playwright and poet, Jeff started the band in 1995 as a bridge between music and theatre. Jeff is an alumnus of Berklee College of Music in Boston, MA, where he studied with saxophonists Bill Pierce and George Garzone. He’s studied theatre with Oleg Tabakov, Artistic Director of the legendary Moscow Art Theatre Company and Shakespeare scholar Kristin Linklater. Jeff’s one man show about jazz legend Charlie “Bird” Parker entitled “Live Bird” has appeared on off-Broadway and Charlie Parker’s home town of Kansas City Missouri. “I knew Charlie as a man and not simply as a musical genius. Jeff has been nominated for several Independent Reviewers of New England Awards (IRNE) for his work as an actor and director. His radio show “Poetry Jam” is aired on WMBR 88.1 FM in Cambridge and is streamed live via the internet. Jeff performs with the Bob Marley tribute band “Duppy Conquerors” Mondays at Sally O’Brien’s in, Somerville, MA
Blake Newman – Bass
Bassist and composer Blake Newman was born in New York City and was drawn to music at an early age. He entertained himself for hours on end by playing piano. When he was 11 his family moved to Florida and soon thereafter he began taking lessons on viola, eventually settling on Double-bass followed by bass guitar soon after. Following highschool he spent a year in San Francisco before moving to Boston to study at Berklee College. He has called the Boston area home ever since.Blake has always had a flair for the exotic and his musical tastes have been no exception. He’s had the good fortune to be able to explore a wide array of musical traditions with some great musicians.
In 2004, Blake performed in the American Repertory Theater’s production of Oedipus, directed by Robert Woodruff with music composed by Evan Ziporyn. He returned to the ART in the spring of 2006 for the production OrpheusX, created by Rinde Eckert and again directed by Wooduff. In August 2007, he traveled to Scotland, where OrpheusX was presented at the International Festival in Edinburgh.
Jerome Deupree – Drums
Started playing at age 6 started gigging in his early teens and has been going ever since. I. Self taught. His influences include British invasion, Blues and Jazz. World Music, and more. Playing professionally at 14. After finishing high school in 1975, he’s lived in Indiana and California before moving to Boston in 1981. he currently freelancing with a number of groups and singers. He’s worked in a wide range of musical styles. Folk, Free jazz, Big Band, Rock, Pop, Country Western, Rockabilly and he’s even marched with a Fife and Drum corps. Jerome has performed with Joe Morris, The Either Orchestra, John Mellencamp, Patti Griffin to name a few. Jerome was the original drummer for Morphine and has toured extensively with a number of bands out of the greater Boston area.
