The Lizard Lounge Poetry Jam and Slam is an award-winning weekly feature of The Lizard Lounge located at 1667 Massachusetts Ave. in Cambridge, MA.   The Jam and Slam happen every Sunday at 7:30 pm and hosted by Joyce Cunha, Art Collins, Clarissa Monét, and Jeff Robinson. There’s an $8 cover charge at the door, and you must be 21 years old or older to enter the venue.

A featured poet, sometimes of national prominence, performs each week. The Jeff Robinson Trio, a collective comprising of three of Boston’s most well-known and heralded musicians, lays down the musical foundation for spoken word performances. Their performance has made this event a must-see for more than 20 years. If you are local to the Boston area or visiting for the very first time, you owe it to yourself to check out this incredible night. You will never think of live poetry in quite the same way again.

We have an eStore.  Please buy a T-shirt, a coffee cup or a hat and support the poets/musicians and get a souvenir.

Boston's Best Seal Winner 2017

The Lizard Lounge Poetry Jam & Slam won the Improper Bostonian’s “Best Poetry Series 2017” and here is what they had to say about us;

“We highly recommend scuttling into the Lizard Lounge for this Sunday night tradition, still going strong after 20 years. First, comes a slam that has eight poets competing for a $100 prize. Then the featured poet takes the stage—headliners range from national names to local talents like Tufts lecturer Tanya Larkin and TED Fellow Iyeoka Ivie Okoawo. Jazz accompaniment from the Jeff Robinson Trio puts the poetry in motion, and you can bring your musings for the open mic that caps off the night.” CLICK HERE FOR MORE
