Tarishi MIDNIGHT Shuler is a native of New Haven, CT he now resides in Brooklyn, NY. He has performed all across the country and outside the country as well. – He is the 2019 Central Brooklyn Jazz Consortium’s Spoken Word Ambassador. – In 2018 he curated an event for the Boston Museum of Fine Arts for their MLK Day celebration. – He was the 2017 Nuyorican Grand Slam Finals. – He won the 2016 & 2017 Yale Peabody Martin Luther King Jr. Slam – He is the 2017 & 2020 Lizard King of The Lizard Lounge in Cambridge, MA – He appeared on Russell Simmons YouTube Channel “All Def Poetry” – He has been performing at the National Poetry Slam from 2011 to 2018 – He played on HOT97 for the 15th anniversary of 9/11 – He was the 2016 Slam Master of the CT National Poetry Slam Team Verbal Slap – He is 2011, 2012 & 2016 CT Grand Slam Champion. – He won the McDonald’s McCafe Poetry Slam in NYC in 2010, 2012, 2013 & 2016. He has opened for many notable individuals such as Saul Williams, Grammy-nominated Dwele, President Bill Clinton, Abiodun of the Last Poets, and others. – The most important thing to Tarishi is GOD and letting people know that their voices need to be heard. “Your voice is as vital as breathing” – Tarishi M.
