Terry “Orlando” Jones, a native of Dorchester, is a man of many talents and has been involved in the music business for over 15 years. Terry is musically inclined and has a very strong musical background. He is very skillful, and talented when it comes to his music. “Music is the love of his life, and is energy for his soul.”
Terry graduated from Madison Park High Roland Hayes Division Of Music, Berklee College Of Music, and Massachusetts Communications College and is also known as The Art Institute Of New England. At these schools, he studied Percussions, Producing, Engineering, Keyboard – MIDI Programming, and Artist Consulting.
When Terry performs, or you hear his music, you can relate to whatever he sings about. Whether he sings about love, life or every day issues his expression, and flow of his words are very powerful, and deep.
To relate to his music, you must be able to paint a mental picture and have a vision. For once you experience this, you will be able to relate to what it is he is talking about.
I asked Terry”What encouraging words would he say to someone who wanted to get involved in the music industry?” He replied, “You should learn how to play different kinds of instruments, because it is very important in this business, and that you should learn everything you can about the music industry.”
Terry grew up listening to, The Funkadelics, Krush Groove, and Run DMC. Later on in his life, he had the honors of being in the presence of such great musical geniuses such as Prince, Maceo Parker, Roy Ayers, Lenny Kravitz, Bjork, and Arrested Development. His musical influences range from George Clinton, Joni Mitchell, Sheila E. Me’Shell N’dege O’Chello.Jill Scott, (peace Al) Erykah Badu, Macy Gray, Common, John Legend, De La Soul, Dougie Fresh (peace pops) Slick Rick, Roni Size, Cindy Blackman, Terrie Lynn Carrington, Kudu,KelleyKelly, Navah The Buddafliii, ECD The First, Jamez, SteveBosston, Lower Level, K-Smith, The Jeff Robinson Trio, Dj Nomadik, The Foundation, K9, Vitamin D (Donnell) –Arthur Champagnie, Van Hunt, Les Nubians, Nikka Costa, Actual Proof, Bren Scott, T-S Monk , Gil Scott Heron. Herbie Hancock, The BrandNew Heavies These musical geniuses have been such a great inspiration, and big influences in Terry’s life, his list is remarkable and will continue to grow.
Terry is one of Dorchester’s most diverse, and creative emerging performer/producers. He is the proud founder of “ FUNKYCITRIC PRODUCTIONS.” He has four albums in the works; three albums are almost completed and, one in the process of being completed.
