Toni Bee

Toni Bee

Toni Bee is a writer, photographer, advocate. She was the 2011 Poet Populist of Cambridge, MA – the first woman elected in that position. Since becoming the 2016 Inaugural Poetry Ambassador of Cambridge, Toni has continued to conduct poetry lectures as a teaching artist in colleges, schools, and camps. She has worked for years with The City Spotlights teen leaders out of Boston’s Wang & Shubert Theaters. Bee led a 2015 march in Cambridge with her neighbors in recognition of those killed by police and to stand in solidarity with Black Parents …and others impacted by the violence. She was recognized by the YWCA of Cambridge as a 2017 Women of Color Leading Change recipient; and for her community service 2011 YWCA Outstanding Woman Award. At the 2017 Boston National Poetry Festival, Toni was featured and interviewed; at this year’s Massachusetts Poetry Festival in Salem, MA. she was on the Motherhood & The Muse panel. “Keep Practicing Your Art…always” says Toni, who wrote poems while raising her now teen-aged daughter and going to college. Bee just graduated from Simmons with her BA, so get ready for her ‘upcoming bestselling poetry book’ entitled…. 21 Again.
